Proudly, we can announce that the two teams the AHFC put forth for the Golden Frog tournament won all of their rounds, thus obtaining the inaugural non-perpetual chocolate golden frog prize. Yum!

Well done to Aidan, Ashton, Dov, Erwin, Matteo, and Ranger for your winning efforts.

So here is a fun bit of fun!
Our fine friends at Adelaide Swords Club have a random friday to do something with, and have decided to muck about with a fun social teams event!

On thursday night, the AHFC drew names from a mask for a team and the lucky players are:
    Henry, Aidan, Demelza, & Dov.

Non-players are still welcome to attend, cheer, and imbibe after the stabbery.

Hi all, the AHFC will return to training THIS COMING THURSDAY!
You have all been so patient, and because of that we are starting the term early - that's right, 13 weeks for the price of 10!
We have secured the fabulous venue of the St Francis de Sales Gym, 8 Dutton Rd, Mount Barker, SA.

Please note: Start time is now 18:30 on Thursday

ALL regular AHFC Thursday & Saturday classes are happening as long as you:

    • Have all your own gear.
    OR
    • Borrow gear from the club for the duration of the term.
NOTE: The borrowing of gear can ONLY be done this Sunday 28th June, at the regular venue, Bridgewater Primary School Gym.
    AND
    • Have up-to-date membership with the club.
      This includes Associate Members

We thank you all for your continued support of the club and the great sport of Fencing!

The AHFC have secured an interim venue and we'll be resuming training at the start of term three.
The venue is the St Francis de Sales college gym, 3 Dutton rd, Mt Barker.
    Navigate here: https://goo.gl/maps/M6Zcn8kKoGjxCd8y6

Training will recommence on Thursday 23rd July, and will comprise our usual sessions of Intermediate Juniors followed by Seniors on Thursdays; and A, B, and C group Juniors on Saturday.
Please note: Thursday times are slightly different - Junior start at 18:30, Senior start at 20:00.

The current plan is to return to Bridgewater in term four.

As you may be aware, COVID-19 restrictions are still in effect, but with the recent announcement of June 12th with restrictions easing in stages on both the 19th and 29th it will be (mostly) back to training as usual.
Social distancing and general hygiene measures still apply.

To limit the use of shared equipment, we will have a fitting/borrow session at some stage in the 2 weeks prior to restarting - for any member who requires additional uniform equipment. Date for this TBA.

Those of you wishing to get a jump start on your opponents can organise private coaching by contacting coach@adelaidehillsfencing.club

As you may be aware, the South Australian Roadmap for Easing Covid-19 Restrictions has a nominated date of June 1st for Step 2; this is the step which allows for the return to indoor sport and fitness. Remember: this date is subject to change depending on public health assessment.

All of us are keen to return to fencing, and FencingSA have been working hard to finalise their Return to Fencing Plan on behalf of the clubs, but we of the AHFC have an additional issue to deal with. Our beloved gym at Bridgewater will be unavailable to us due to renovations until the middle of term 3, possibly later.

Your elected board are working tirelessly to find some temporary lodgings for the club during this period, and we will send notification once something has been finalised. If anyone has a definite lead on a viable space, please send an email to secretary@adelaidehillsfencing.club.

The AHFC understands that this is a distressing turn of events (cue wailing, gnashing of teeth!) and will be organising future discount vouchers for the lost training period we have experienced. Anyone who has been profoundly affected by the lockdown and requires a refund for their annual payment may apply in writing to treasury@adelaidehillsfencing.club. This will be handled confidentially on a case-by-case basis.

Until we reconvene, private tuition can be organised by contacting coach@adelaidehillsfencing.club. Note: This coaching is facilitated by the AHFC on behalf of its coaches, and as such is a private financial agreement with the coach.

    Until further notice,
Kep calm and practice en garde.

    Dear AHFC members,

In response to the Covid-19 crisis and in the interest of public health and safety, the Board has decided to suspend all group training and fencing at the club effective today

This includes privately arranged 1-on-1 lessons.

We will review the situation at the end of the normal school holidays in line with expert advice,  and can hopefully get everyone back sometime soon.

Stay safe and maybe get your fencing fix via Youtube.

Well, the new format Golden Gauntlet event was a success, and fabulous that the AHFC retains the trophy. After a hard-fought (and very close) battle, AHFC broke away at the very end to finish 80/70. Well done to rivals ASC, who fought with great honour.

Better luck next year to the CSFC team, who were defeated by ASC in the preliminary round 42/45, it was an excellent match to behold.
Also grand was the presence of four junior foil fencing teams! So splendid to have 3 pistes running at once.

Sillliness was had as guest Tully Probert and our own Brown Baron went head to head in the unicycle jousts - it is safe to say that Tully can claim total victory in this event.

Thank you to our Guest Referees: Bruce, Darren, Zvonko, Nadine, Nalin, Clayton, and Darcy.
Additional thanks to BBQ chef Carlos, and all the providers of delicious salads and sweets.

    Welcome to fencing 2020!

A reminder to all members that the entire BPS grounds are closed on catastrophic fire days.
This is a site wide policy implemented by the school and endorsed by AHFC.

Yes, we know you have to evacuate and the gym is air-conditioned - but don't go there. It's dangerous. Training's cancelled. Fiery doom.
Seriously, stop mucking about with swords and protect your loved ones!

    Stay safe,
    AHFC

Hats off to all the adventurous women who came to our Ladies Only Come-&-Try session last Thursday.
Special Thanks to guest coach Ursula Menz for running the session and Club President Jackie Dawson for assisting.
