FSA would like to advise all clubs that the equipment requirements for Under 15 aged events has been relaxed to be the same as the Open-B requirements. Please review the equipment requirements on the FSA website to confirm details. The board is hoping that this will allow more of the club based junior fencers to participate in these events.

The FSA board would also like to remind the clubs and fencers that the new FIE mask strap requirements come into effect for the FSA U17/20, Open and Veteran events from July 1, 2019.

It's coming up to that time of the year again – The Robyn Chaplin Memorial Tournament. This is a National tournament, which brings 300+ competitors and Australia's top fencers to Adelaide.
Being run over the long weekend of June 8 – 10, FencingSA are now calling for volunteers.
All training and support will be provided and this is an ideal opportunity for our junior fencers to be involved in a large national competition.
Please contact secretary@fencingsa.org.au with your availability.

    Volunteer Roles/Positions

    • Setup & Pack-up
    • Truck Driver
    • Able bodied helpers
    • Weapon Control – Coordinator
    • Weapon Control – Supervisors
    • Weapon Control - Helpers

    Definitions

Setup commences from the loading of the truck at Scotch College with all the FSA gear required for the event around midday Friday 8 June and transporting to Immanuel College. Unload at Immanuel and setup commences shortly after 3pm. Volunteers are required to help load and unload the vehicle at each end, setup the pistes, scoring equipment and general setup. The more the merrier to help load/unload and get the venue ready.

Pack-up normally commences around 3pm on Monday 11 June with the gear being packed up as the events complete. The packed gear then requires transport and unloading at Scotch College.

Weapons control is open at 6pm-8pm Friday 8 June and 1 hour before each event during the weekend. The Friday night session is by far the busiest followed by Saturday and Sunday mornings respectively. Friday evening at least 6 volunteers will be required to check and tag the fencers equipment ready for the next day.
All training and support will be provided and this is an ideal opportunity for our junior fencers to be involved in a large national competition. Helpers are welcome to volunteer for a single hour prior to each event or more if they are able.
A Co-ordinator is required to ensure that sufficient supervisors and helpers are available at weapons control when required.
More information regarding the times required for weapons control will be issued closer to the date.

If you have any questions regarding the tasks or roles, please feel free to drop me a line or discuss with your local FSA representative.
